1-800Accountant is sponsoring the ‘Kingonomics @ 50th” event in Washington D.C. this week.

A large group of innovators, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and motivated individuals from all walks of life is convening on the nation’s capital this week for a unique gathering.

‘Kingonomics @ 50th’ will be held from Aug. 22nd-23rd at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. This action-packed, two-day event was originally inspired by the economic principles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the entrepreneurial experience of Dr. Rodney Sampson, the author of Kingonomics. These two special days will feature seven interactive bootcamp sessions, a gala and awards ceremony, a casting call for a popular TV show, and a crowdfunding forum on some of the cutting-edge methods of raising capital for startup businesses today.

The main topics covered at the event will include innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, and crowdfunding. More than 100 leading experts from various fields will host informative sessions on these subjects and will mingle with the thousands of guests in attendance who are looking to achieve their own entrepreneurial goals. The conference marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in August 1963 during which Dr. King delivered his historic “I Have A Dream” speech.

‘Kingonomics at 50th‘ will include a casting call for ABC’s hit reality series Shark Tank, which involves entrepreneurs pitching their business concepts to “sharks” who decide if they want to put their money behind them. The casting call is on Friday, Aug. 23rd and requires a ticket to the event. Entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to the show’s casting directors.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, an Emancipation of Capital Gala Reception will be held to recognize innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors who have made a significant impact on their respective industries. There will also be an awards ceremony held in conjunction with the gala to honor those in attendance.

1-800Accountant, the nation’s leading accounting and business consulting firm for small businesses, is sponsoring the event. Several representatives from the firm will be speaking, including Bert Seither, Vice President of Business Planning, Gary Milkwick, Vice President of Accounting, and wealth attorney J.J. Childers. Other prominent speakers include Mark Cuban, Daymond John, Mark Burnett, Al Sharpton, Rodney Sampson, and Sue Malone.

Children ages 11-18, college students, and veterans receive free admission to the conference. For those who can’t attend the event in-person, a live webcast of the event will be available for a viewing fee.
