How can I request an extension?

Login to your 1-800Accountant Portal, and select TAXES in the left navigation. From there, select either the business or personal extension section. Please note, these sections are not visible in your portal account until the January before the federal tax deadline.

How will I get notified when my extension is approved?

Your accounting team will send you a message in the message center with a copy of the extension forms and confirmation that your extension has been submitted and filed.

How do I submit my tax information?

Login to your 1-800Accountant Portal, and navigate to the tax information section. From there, fill out and submit a questionnaire and upload important tax documents.

What do the various tax return statuses mean?

Each “status” is an indication of where you are in the tax return process.

  • Started
    Means you have started answering the questionnaire but haven’t submitted it.
  • Info Submitted
    Means you have submitted the questionnaire.
  • Additional Info Needed
    Means we sent you a message in the message center for additional information we need to complete your return. Please respond back to the message.
  • Preparation
    Means we are working on your tax return.
  • Internal Review
    Means your tax return has been completed by the accountant, and a manager is reviewing it.
  • Client Review
    Means we have sent you the tax return to review and approve.
  • E-File
    Means we have electronically filed the return on your behalf with the IRS.
  • Completed
    Means the IRS has accepted the tax return and you are all set!

How can I get help with resolving a tax notice?

Login to the 1-800Accountant Portal, and navigate to the documents section. Please upload the tax notice to the respective tax year folder, and schedule an appointment with your tax advisor.

How do I get in touch with my team?

Login to your 1-800Accountant Portal and navigate to the messages center in the left navigation. Start a new message, select a recipient, write your message, and select ‘Send’.

When are my quarterly estimated taxes due?

Your quarterly estimated taxes are due four times per year. We request you submit your tax information to your accounting team a month ahead of the deadline.

What is the password for my personal/business tax returns?

Your password is the last six digits of your Social Security number for your personal return and the last six digits of your business EIN for your business return.

How can I send my team a tax document?

Login to your 1-800Accountant Portal and navigate to the Taxes section in the left navigation. From there, select either Business or Personal Tax Information depending on the nature of the tax document, and click ‘Upload Documents’. You can also utilize the upload documents button from the main dashboard’s widget for the current tax year’s tax return status.

Where do I submit the additional documents my tax preparer requested?

Login to your 1-800Accountant Portal, and select TAXES on the left side navigation. Click on either Business Taxes or Personal Taxes depending on what document was requested, and select ‘Upload Documents’ on the page.

What tax deadlines should I be aware of?

There are various deadlines depending on a number of factors. We’ll send you reminders of upcoming deadlines. If you have an s-corp or partnership the due date is generally March 15th or September 15 if an extension is filed. For your personal return or if you have a c-corporation the due date is generally April 15th or Oct. 15th if an extension is filed.

How do I get in touch with my accountant to review my return?

Login to your 1-800Accountant Portal, and select Calendar in the left navigation. From there, select a date and time with your accountant, and include a note in the description that you’d like to review your tax return.
