Prior to working in tax, I worked for a small broadcasting company in New York City in the accounting department maintaining the company’s books and daily accounting needs. I then moved on to a small independent retail tax office in the Bronx, mostly catering to Individual taxpayers and Sole Proprietors. I went on to a small private full service CPA firm specializing in reporting of Crypto Currency and then on to a small private CPA firm in New York City specializing in Foreign and UN employees before landing here.

The coolest (or most important) trend I see today is the DIY Culture that people gravitate towards. It is empowering to know that you can just figure it out on your own and achieve your dreams on your own terms and timetable as opposed to being held to someone else's standards or rules.
I would tell myself to be patient, study hard, and stay the course.
The toughest accountant problem I’ve tackled has been when preparing returns in certain softwares that do not calculate the proper tax treatment. I researched the topic to verify the treatment, presented it to my superior and then was tasked with calling the software company to see how we could prepare the taxpayer’s return correctly. In the end, I have always been able to resolve the issue with the customer support team, and ensure the accuracy of the taxpayer’s return.

Virtual accounting has been a great fit for clients because we have been able to prove that the antiquated idea of meeting with your accountant is not the only way to receive quality service. It has also shown clients that we were ahead of the game given the current state of affairs and have been able to seamlessly assist clients who may have been otherwise skeptical about virtual accounting.
